About Me
My name is Rebekah Lambert. I am a 32yo self taught artist from Dansville, MI.
I am the 3rd of 14 children born to Don and Tammy Lambert. I know I'm biased when I say that I have the best family but they really are amazing. To grow up in a house with so many people and so many interests to influence each other, has been (and still is) a wonderful experience!
Drawing has been a passion of mine since I was a child but I didn't pick up painting until 9 years ago when I was 23years old. I strive to be my own toughest critic and I think that's necessary for improvement. If I settle for what I've got, I'll have no motive for bettering myself.
My favorite subjects are landscapes and pets. I love seeing the detail and colors in God's design and doing my best to put those moments onto canvas.

Where I started
I first became interested in art when, at about 6 years old, I watched my dad draw a little picture of a ball with shading around it and a shadow behind. I was so impressed that it looked like a book illustration.
I wanted to be an artist like my dad!
Drawing became a passion for me. I loved the challenge of trying to copy what I saw onto paper, even though I really struggled with it for several years!
My first painting experience came when my mom was learning the Donna Dewberry method and showed some techniques to me and my sisters. She painted a little table white and drew a blank tea set onto it. She painted the first set of plates and cups and gave us each a section as well. That was a neat experience and the thought of using paint to turn a boring table into something so fun and personalized, stuck with me.
I focused on improving my drawing skills and I started regularly painting ten years later though
my choice "canvas" might surprise you...
Story Behind the Name
Paintbrush is a nickname I got from my Grandpa Jake. He and Grandma Phyllis knew my love of art and were gracious in their praise and genuine interest in my work.
At the time, my painting was not on a traditional canvas but rather, fondant (a.k.a. Sugar Paste).
I had taken Wilton Cake Decorating courses in 2007 at a local craft store after expressing interest in it to my parents. They paid for me to take the first 3 courses and it opened up a whole new door of Art possibilities!
I continued decorating cakes after my classes were completed and began drawing and sculpting with frosting.
I loved that my artwork could be edible and that I could make cakes so personalized. I wanted to take it further and, as I improved my sculpting skills with fondant, I started painting the pieces I made with food coloring.
Making edible, 3D art was a great place to learn how to plan and draw the same object at different angles. The benefit: once it's made....it can be eaten!
Time constraints make it significantly more difficult to maintain that hobby, however, so in 2015 (at 23yo) I decided to try my hand at traditional painting.
